You can’t lose your integrity or authenticity if you didn’t have them in the first place.

People lie. People wear masks. We didn’t need AI to stop caring about others, to stop trying to build rapport or real connection. Now, instead of receiving poorly written emails, we receive overly perfect ones.

You can ask AI to humanize your content — that doesn’t make it more authentic.

Writing takes time... We used to write one page at a time, by hand. Now we can send what we typed all over the world, effortlessly. With AI, it just gets even faster.

And that’s okay. It’s okay to 10x your writing speed.

But I get it — you were talking about the thought process. And yes, AI won’t ever make that for you. Hopefully.

Because it’s not fully independent (yet?), AI never stops being a tool. You’re just personifying it.

And in the end, you could be the creator of soulless material — or of human, honest work.

I asked ChatGPT to edit my comment. It added spaces, em dashes, changed a few words. But at least 95% of it is still mine. And in the end, I choose whether I hit send or not.

To me, that’s 100% authentic.

This is a conversation I've been observing over the months with many different sentiments, but it seems like there's only really two parties in this conversation - Pro-AI and Anti-AI. I certainly lean more into the Pro AI, and my experience throughout my entire life caters to this phenomenon naturally. My father raised me on sci-fi shows, books, Star Trek, and that entire realm of pop-fiction. Understanding the concepts at a young age and knowing a large majority of humans subscribe to the thought of futurism including AI is inevitable. The fact that we have literally advanced and developed some of these concepts into reality speaks volumes on where human ingenuity actually lies. But yes, I do use AI for story-crafting and even Midjourney to create art concepts/ideas. Claiming it as my work alone is blasphemous to me especially since I've always drawn, written numerous poetry, created characters, world-building, and even went to university for graphic designing all prior to AI. I respect the difference between Man and Machine, however using it enhance my own ideas with deep introspection is effective! I'll conclude with this.. I'm not sure if you follow comics, but Tony Stark is not Iron Man without the suit- He's just a highly intellectual master engineer and genius. Bruce Wayne is not Batman without the tech, the Batsuit, or the BatComputer (which is AI)- He's just a detective with incredible martial arts skills, and high intelligence. The point is you may be great without AI, but you're limited - we all are. If you understand how to use it effectively, you could be much more. Traditionalists won't become obsolete, but AI will become common- and that's what scares most people.

I've had so many mixed feelings about AI. I have played around with it and tried to see both sides, but I've since decided that it's not something I want to use or support. When it comes to facts, it often gets things wrong that need double checking. When it comes to writing copy, like you said, it's very formulaic and it has a "flavour" - like you, I feel like I can tell *most* of the time when something is written with AI. I'm deeply concerned about AI killing creativity, but the environmental impact of AI is really quite terrifying. The amount of energy, power and clean water that is needed just so that we don't have to write our own emails kind of blows my mind! I think there could be some fantastic ways we can use this technology for good, but I don't think getting it to write emails and create art for us is it!

Yes thanks for these reflections Vix, it’s a wild time and I agree with a lot of what you share. I recently watched an interesting video by magenta pixie talking about trifurcation when it comes to Ai, a postie experience based on positive intention when using it, a negative experience based on fear or negative intention using it and another organic or neutral experience for those choosing not to engage with it in any way. I thought it was interesting good for thought, due to the nature of my work and the unconscious adoption of it, much like that of social media, it feels important to be in the positive experience and not in fear, otherwise I would have to leave the digital space, work and my dharma in this lifetime, I feel like, to choose the organic timeline for myself. ❤️
